My interest lies in making the literary and visual arts accessible for all abilities, ages, and neurotypes.

With a background in creative writing, 5+ years of experience as a journalist, and an M.A. in Special Education, I believe that there's no better use of my time than promoting and facilitating the creative works of marginalized groups—including those with IDD and memory care needs.

Over the past 10 years I have facilitated numerous zine, writing, and art workshops in settings such as schools, independent living programs, memory care facilities, museums, and city cultural centers. From 2022 to 2023 I led "Zine Club" with the artists of SAGE Studio, an art gallery and studio space in East Austin for adults with disabilities. This year of weekly workshops cumulated in an 80-page publication titled The Magic of Feeling.

That year at SAGE was pivotal for me; it inspired me to apply for the Autism and Developmental Disabilities master's program at The University of Texas at Austin. During grad school, my thesis research focused on using metaphor, specifically within the context of poetry, as a communicative intervention for adults with ASD.

In 2024 I became the studio facilitator at SAGE, helping to promote the work and skills of their studio artists with the goal of increased independence and vocational opportunity. I'm beyond thankful for this position and am excited for additional ways I can bring the literary and visual arts to communities in Austin!
